So, Marty rings me earlier in the week to tell me about this contest that he soooooo wants to enter. “Be one of the very lucky 96 winners to join Fitzi and the V8 Supercar drivers (Jamie Whincup and David Reynolds) as you get the chance to take to the track to try and beat the V8 driver’s times.” So, I go online and enter both of us, after all we both are into adrenaline and GoKarts! ;)
On Thursday my phone rings and I’m told that I am one of the lucky winners. As much as I loved it I asked if I could give it to Marty and they said “yes” which was awesome. Marty spoils me rotten and I so wanted him to have this!
So, we go to the Warren Ultra Fast Karts in Cockburn on Friday and it was fantastic… you couldn’t wipe the grin off of Marty’s face! The event was run so well and everyone had the best time… Fitzi was, well Fitzi (awesomely funny) and the marketing crew were amazing!
I, of course, took my Bigma lens to get some cool shots for Martaay and got dobbed in by a friend and ended up taking some images for 96FM. As a thanks I got to go out with Fitzi and the boys for some laps myself. So, I still ended up getting to play in the Karts… you have to love it! ;)
So, I hope you enjoy the images from my day off that ended up being a work day that ended up being a play day!
What an awesome day and such a great event! Well done 96FM…
PS. Thanks Martaay for capturing my winning performance! ;)
For exactly one year everyone has been asking to see photos from the infamous day when “m&m” became “mr. & mrs. m&m.”
On the 25th of February 2010 I got to marry the most amazing man I’ve ever met at the WA Waterski Park in Baldivis. Together and with our dogs we have shared some of the most memorable moments here. It is a place we go to relax, to laugh, to re-connect, to play and to hide from the world and just “be.”
As much as we love photographing the grandeur of weddings and receptions we wanted something that reflected our down to earth personalities. Mostly, we wanted to play. Play is so important to us and we want to maintain the playfulness of life and love as long as we can. Our wedding had to reflect that!
And so, we decided on a morning ceremony on the jetty at the lake that has seen us waterskiing with dear friends, celebrating holidays with our dogs and playing in the sunshine. It is here that we most often share in laughter, love and friendship. After the morning ceremony we went off for photos and returned in board shorts and celebrated with our friends while waterskiing, relaxing and bbq’ing. I couldn’t have dreamed of a better wedding.
Marty and I would like to take this opportunity to thank two of the most amazing photographers for capturing our day, Kirsty and Lauren. Your images are truly gifts and we could never express our gratitude sufficiently. Not only did you endure a 42.5C degree day, but you did it with laughter and creativity that is unparalleled. Thank you from the very bottom of our hearts and souls!
I also want to thank the very sweet Trish for doing my hair. You cannot know how special of a place you have in my heart for having done this for me. Trish is amazing and such a calming effect on a wedding day!
Another special thank you goes to our Celebrant Victoria. I’ve worked with Victoria many times and I love the energy and zest she brings to a ceremony. I couldn’t have imagined having anyone else marry us. She loves knowing her couples and her ceremonies are personal and beautiful. Her words and input are treasured by us and we are proud to call her a friend.
Thanks also to Frank for escorting us and his hospitality in using the venue, to the boys for helping set up, to Jen for your help and friendship and to everyone else who helped make the day so special. A special thanks to our furry boys, Yogi and BooBoo for being our ring bearers and to Ralph and Suzs for assisting them and being our friends. We also want to express our appreciation to Chris & Anne for printing our Invitations and to
To our dear friends and family around the globe who could not make it to share in our day, please know that we felt your love just the same! It isn’t the same as having been there, but we hope you enjoy some images of the day. If anyone couldn’t tell, I was VERY happy to marry the man of my dreams. Not even that intense heat could melt the smile off my face. ;)
To Marty… thanks for walking into my shop that day and changing my life for the better. You amaze me and a year and a bit later I love you even more!
Thanks to everyone who helped make this day so special and memorable. We love you all and your friendships!
I’ve never understood the concept of “cold feet” but I’ve never doubted its existence or reality for those that experience it. I understand it even less with my wedding peering over the horizon, grinning its big grin at me! With every moment that passes, and the number lessening of the days before I become mrs. m&m, I find myself struggling to restrain the GIANT cheshire cat-like grin that resides on my face. All I can think about is how my heart swells with pride at the mere thought of Marty (the martaay) being my husband. My chest wants to explode it feels so warmly filled with love and admiration for this man!
And so, with 3 weeks to go until the day, I post of the “leap of faith” that I so eagerly await. Faith, staunchly believing without tangible evidence, doesn’t seem the right term. Confirmation comes every day with the little things, and I thank him for every one. There is nothing, and nobody, that is perfect on this planet. And there are days where we ponder how to strangle the other without a prison term to follow… but then we laugh, hold hands and head back to our journey knowing we love each even more. This is what I treasure, the leap of faith is believing… knowing… that your someone loves you just as much as you love them, through everything. And so, here is to the leap of faith that is our wedding day… 3 weeks and counting.
