It’s not often you get the chance to repay a favour done by a total stranger, not that she is anymore, but it is awesome when you can. We met Bec & Brent and their ’57 Chevy (quite a nostalgic car for me) at a wedding over 3 years ago. Their grace and generosity was amazing and that day helped to define our style of photography.
When Bec rang and asked if I would photograph her with her gorgeous dogs there was only one answer… OF COURSE! Not just to say thanks for that day but Bec is one of my fave people in Perth and her smile is infectious. Not to mention that she’s a fellow dog lover!
So, enjoy a fun shoot!!!
Enjoy guys… and we are soooo glad we met you that March day! ;)
Yogi, yes I did name him Yogi, turns 5 today. I can’t begin to tell you how happy it makes me to see him achieve this milestone!
A little history. Yogi is the second of our German Shepherds and follows in the amazing pawsteps of Bear. Is the name making more sense? ;) He was the funniest puppy and showed that he would prove to be one of “quirkiest” dogs EVER! He would dive into the deepest depths to retrieve golf balls out of buckets of water. He would sleep on our trampoline and bbq (NOT turned on), and found the greatest joy in stealing my stuffed Tigger. His sleeping was where we were most humoured, I’ve never seen a dog sleep in positions and locations as strange as he has!
Our cute little guy would find major health problems before he even turned 15 months. One night while sleeping behind my desk chair the seizures began, and they kept coming. He was diagnosed with Epilepsy and listed as one of the worst cases in the State. It has been years of battling to manage his medications and his life to try to minimise the episodes. He is on amazingly large quantities of drugs to manage the epilepsy. We have tried so hard to give him the best life he can have and he manages to give us so much joy and laughter. You HAVE to see how he runs someday and you’ll understand. It’s like his front half is disconnected from his back half… very entertaining. He wobbles, he drags his feet and he loses his balance all the time… but just keeps on going!
It was clear that we wouldn’t have him for long, and we nearly lost him 18 months ago. But, more adjustments and an amazing Vet and we had him back on even footing. We don’t know how much longer we’ll have him, but we’ll take as many more days as we can have! ;)
Happy Birthday you Big Goofball! ;)
I hope you have a pet that makes you as happy as Yogi makes us!
For exactly one year everyone has been asking to see photos from the infamous day when “m&m” became “mr. & mrs. m&m.”
On the 25th of February 2010 I got to marry the most amazing man I’ve ever met at the WA Waterski Park in Baldivis. Together and with our dogs we have shared some of the most memorable moments here. It is a place we go to relax, to laugh, to re-connect, to play and to hide from the world and just “be.”
As much as we love photographing the grandeur of weddings and receptions we wanted something that reflected our down to earth personalities. Mostly, we wanted to play. Play is so important to us and we want to maintain the playfulness of life and love as long as we can. Our wedding had to reflect that!
And so, we decided on a morning ceremony on the jetty at the lake that has seen us waterskiing with dear friends, celebrating holidays with our dogs and playing in the sunshine. It is here that we most often share in laughter, love and friendship. After the morning ceremony we went off for photos and returned in board shorts and celebrated with our friends while waterskiing, relaxing and bbq’ing. I couldn’t have dreamed of a better wedding.
Marty and I would like to take this opportunity to thank two of the most amazing photographers for capturing our day, Kirsty and Lauren. Your images are truly gifts and we could never express our gratitude sufficiently. Not only did you endure a 42.5C degree day, but you did it with laughter and creativity that is unparalleled. Thank you from the very bottom of our hearts and souls!
I also want to thank the very sweet Trish for doing my hair. You cannot know how special of a place you have in my heart for having done this for me. Trish is amazing and such a calming effect on a wedding day!
Another special thank you goes to our Celebrant Victoria. I’ve worked with Victoria many times and I love the energy and zest she brings to a ceremony. I couldn’t have imagined having anyone else marry us. She loves knowing her couples and her ceremonies are personal and beautiful. Her words and input are treasured by us and we are proud to call her a friend.
Thanks also to Frank for escorting us and his hospitality in using the venue, to the boys for helping set up, to Jen for your help and friendship and to everyone else who helped make the day so special. A special thanks to our furry boys, Yogi and BooBoo for being our ring bearers and to Ralph and Suzs for assisting them and being our friends. We also want to express our appreciation to Chris & Anne for printing our Invitations and to
To our dear friends and family around the globe who could not make it to share in our day, please know that we felt your love just the same! It isn’t the same as having been there, but we hope you enjoy some images of the day. If anyone couldn’t tell, I was VERY happy to marry the man of my dreams. Not even that intense heat could melt the smile off my face. ;)
To Marty… thanks for walking into my shop that day and changing my life for the better. You amaze me and a year and a bit later I love you even more!
Thanks to everyone who helped make this day so special and memorable. We love you all and your friendships!
