the Engagements, the Photography

belinda & wayne…

…the engagement

Belinda’s mom rang me quite some time ago to enquire about photographing Belinda & Wayne’s wedding in 2009. We have a mutual friend and I could instantly see we had a connection. The couple are organising a fantastic invite and needed a photo to use on it. We agreed on doing an engagement shoot but left it until last season was done. Well, we finally coordinated our calendars and found a date that suited us both.

They live on a gorgeous rural property and I loved the drive out to their place. After an amazing spread of food we were off to do the photos! Now, normally when I pack for these things I don’t have to think too much about my shoes except for a general level of comfort that I like to have. I tend to climb around a lot so some good tread is always good. Well, and this IS a first, I needed to think about some boots as the engagement photos were to be shot with their beautiful, yet sometimes cranky, cows. Yes, I did say cows! And this time I can’t get into trouble for calling my subjects cows… YAY!!!

Such a fun shoot… I hope you enjoy! (I’m still cleaning the cow dung off my boots!)

this was one of the first shots I took, both of the cows just crack me up!

Ok, enough cow jokes, although I do have some more! ;) Seriously, it was such fun to photograph you guys and your beautiful animals. I’m a sucker for animals of all sorts so I had a blast and can’t wait until your wedding! Have a great Xmas guys and keep lovin’ those animals! ;)

the Photography, the Weddings

bobbie & brendon…

… the wedding

Most of Perth woke up on Saturday the 20th of December with dark grey clouds and storms looming off the coast… Bobbie just wanted to arrive at the church dry, it wasn’t looking promising! As Marty and I drove to the hotel where we she was staying we went through the thickest of storms, barely even able to see the cars in front of us. Marty turned to me, laughed, and watched me sink into the car seat burying my face in my hands. It looked like my streak of good weather was coming to an end! This was going to be fun!

Good news… the storm we found ourselves in seemed to pass quickly, one of the only bonuses I could think of with the howling winds we were having… did I mention it was windy too??? As I got out and gathered my things for the morning shoot the clouds seemed to open up and blue skies were sneaking a peak at Perth. Perhaps Mother Nature would be kind… I was trying to figure out if I’d ticked off any of the Gods lately as I picked up my camera bag… I didn’t like the length of the list I was quickly tallying, there were any number that could be a bit peeved with me!

Fortunately, I think they all favoured Bobbie on this day. She looked gorgeous when I arrived and was ready to jump into her sleek dress and get to the church, we still had nearly 2 hours to go! So, I had one the most easy going mornings ever and it was fantastic. Well, with one MINOR complaint, I STILL have “going to the chapel… and we’re gonna get married…” in my head. I’m sure I heard it several times in the hotel room, and again in the limo on the way! You owe me for that one Bobbie! ;)

Well, we arrived at the church in South Perth dry, with a broken bracelet as the only drama for the day, it must have offered itself as a tradeoff for the fantastic weather we had all day! After a beautiful ceremony we headed to UWA for some photos and then the the South of Perth Yacht Club where a friend allowed us to use his boat (BIG boat) for some shots as well… Thanks so much!!!

As you can see, Mother Nature was kind and it was an amazing day! Enjoy your travels guys and I can’t wait to see you when you get back!

Thanks also to John from Launch Film Productions for his great company, great style and comedic relief! I can’t wait to see the video!
